Dear colleagues and friends, as the year comes to a close, as usual we wish to take a moment to reflect on our journey and share our plans for the upcoming year. In this time grappling with uncertainty, we have tackled new projects, connected with many remarkable people, and gained invaluable insights.

After more than three and a half years, I am closing my chapter at the GIZ Data Lab. Looking back, time has flown by so fast, and yet it was filled with so many immensely gratifying, exciting, and humbling moments that it makes my head buzz.

A reflection of our efforts in the last year and projects that excite us in the coming year.

During the Asia and Pacific Transport Forum in May 2024 in Manila the GIZ Projects “NDC Transport Initiative Asia” and the “TUMI Women mobilize Women” Initiative hosted the session “Building Feminist Cities: Looking at the Intersection of Inclusivity”. GIZ Data Lab had the enormous pleasure of supporting them with an innovative approach to inclusive and feminist transport planning by leveraging AI-generated images.

As the curtain falls on 2023, it’s time for us to reflect on yet another exciting journey we’ve had this year. In a world grappling with conflicts, crises, and pressing global issues, our Data Lab team has been busy pioneering solutions and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
