    Policy Action Tracker

    In the policy analysis realm, tracking the implementation of climate strategies, such as the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), presents a daunting challenge. The sheer volume of policy documents to analyze makes manual tracking an uphill task for policy advisors. Considering this, we began experimenting with a novel, AI-powered solution: The Policy Action Tracker.

    NegotiateAI: Smart Negotiations by leveraging AI for UN Negotiations on the international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution

    In the dynamic world of international environmental diplomacy, the complexity of the subject, variety of diverging positions as well as volume of documentation challenges fast progress. Smaller delegations seem disadvantaged compared to the larger delegations by time-consuming prepations requirements and negotiation sessions considering extensive legal texts as well as scientific background papers. This is particularly true for low income countries’ delegations.

    During the Asia and Pacific Transport Forum in May 2024 in Manila the GIZ Projects “NDC Transport Initiative Asia” and the “TUMI Women mobilize Women” Initiative hosted the session “Building Feminist Cities: Looking at the Intersection of Inclusivity”. GIZ Data Lab had the enormous pleasure of supporting them with an innovative approach to inclusive and feminist transport planning by leveraging AI-generated images.

    Climate change poses significant challenges for rural communities in the North of Ghana. Due to their dependence on climate-sensitive sectors like agriculture, forestry, and natural resource management, they are highly vulnerable to its effects. Implementing adaptation measures that improve resilience and address the impacts of climate change is essential for reducing their vulnerabilities. This article explores the benefits of new approaches, particularly the utilization of remote sensing data and the Data-Powered Positive Deviance (DPPD) method, in preserving Ghana’s trees and empowering local communities.
